Couples Therapy

Couples therapy or couples counseling is aimed at resolving conflicts and strengthening relationships.

Couples therapy is often facilitated by a Marriage and Family Therapist who has received extensive training in family systems theory and knows how to effectively manage two people with two perspectives in one room at the same time. It is important for each partner to feel heard and understood by the clinician, and to feel like the therapist is on the “couple’s team”, not on one partner’s “team” over the other’s. Couples therapy is more than just compromise – it is about learning to understand each other and provide for each other in new and different (hopefully healthier!) ways.
